The Health Security Index, developed by Catholic Healthcare West, gauges perceptions and beliefs about our ability to access the health care we need. The Index was calculated based on responses from 1,771 adults across the country in the first quarter of 2007.
The key findings indicate that a majority of Americans "do not have a high level of confidence in the state of the nation's healthcare system. Specifically, we find ourselves challenged by critical issues of affordability, access, and prevention. Americans are also signaling a high degree of readiness for reform."
